The sun shone on our Woodlands building this weekend as we held our Spring Craft Fayre. It was lovely enjoying the weather and our centre was bustling with so many activities going on – we had Morris dancers, face painting, kids crafts and of course some beautiful handmade gifts on offer.
To kick start the day we were treated to a dance by Somerset Morris, who not only performed for us but also treated us to a quick workshop on how to do a Morris dance. It was great to see so many people getting involved in this, including Sonia and Janine, our CEO and Senior Development Manager!
After this, people started tucking in to the huge amount of cakes on offer. Greggs Bakery generously donated us a bunch of cakes and doughnuts, and Bakers of Bath also gifted us some cupcakes. We’re so grateful for these donations – they tasted so yummy and helped to raise money for the centre!
While the adults enjoyed crafts and cake, we provided a huge amount for the kids too. In our lodge they could make seed pots to take home as well as colour in some fab pictures – some of them were better than mine! There was also face painting and some garden games to keep them occupied.
Throughout the day there were beautiful artisan gifts on offer for all who attended. There were cards, knitted jumpers, chutneys, mugs and more available for our carers, most of which were beautifully homemade by carers themselves.
Through this craft fayre we’ve raised £600, a brilliant result which we’re so happy with! This money means we can continue to support carers, providing breaks, transport, replacement care, counselling, employment advice, health checks and more. We’d like to thank everyone who came, everyone who volunteered to help and everyone who donated us cakes – you’ve really helped carers in BANES and we’re so grateful!
